Soundcast VG1 Waterproof Speaker
If you’re looking for a speaker you can use near water—in the bathroom, by the pool—why mess around? The IP67-rated VG1 is waterproof, not just “water-resistant,” meaning it has withstood testing to ensure it’s impervious to dust and submersible in 3 feet of water.

Take It Anywhere: Described as a perfect travel companion, the speaker teams a pair
of 2-inch aluminum-cone drivers with
a rear-firing bass radiator and is designed to keep an impromptu party going for up to 15 hours when its battery is fully charged.

Santana: Abraxas

I’ll get right to the point: Abraxas fans, do not miss Mobile Fidelity’s astonishing new reissue of Santana’s 1970 Latin-spiced, blues-rock masterpiece. It will blow your mind. Never before have I heard such inner detail, texture, and wide dynamics, the music emerging from such a deeply quiet background, with such intense immediacy—or derived such sheer musical pleasure from this title. More on the revelatory sound below, but first a bit on the technology behind it. Abraxas represents the first fruit of MoFi’s UltraDisc One-Step plating process, in which the mother and stamper steps are removed, thus eliminating two generations of …… Read the full article

A multi-stranded web of digital audio connectivity

By | January 31st, 2017|Categories: DAR|Tags: , |

As the new pad comes together in Berlin, I’ve been ruminating on the numerous network audio configurations that I (have) use(d) on a daily basis.

Everything starts with the modem and a router. Sometimes this comes as two separate hardware boxes but in my case it’s one. Sitting in the back corner of my lounge room, a Compal CH7466CE (which is nothing special) connects the DARhaus to the Internet via Vodafone Deutschland’s cable service. In this mode of operation, it’s a modem.… Read the full article
