1MORE H1707 Triple-Driver over-ear headphones REVIEW

1MORE H1707 Triple-Drive
1MORE H1707 Triple-DriveWell here’s a turn-up for the books — the missus, who has never to our recollection complimented any headphones before, like ever, announces that those gold headphones I left out last night? They look really nice.

High praise, and we’re inclined to agree. Our art team also gave them an rare thumbs up for a design which sits on the right side of the bling borderline, pronouncing them “slightly nautical” and identifying them as copper rather than gold. And we reckon there’s a hint of cyberpunk in their shiny coppered headshells and Allen-bolt construction, with those alternating black and copper rings running down to their circular earpads and the supplied cable’s gold-plated copper-ended microjacks that slide obliquely into their connection points.… Read the full article

Kiseki Purple Heart Cartridge

By | September 17th, 2017|Categories: AV Hub|

Herman van den Dungen of the Netherlands, who manufactures Kiseki phono cartridges, has appointed South Australian distributor Magenta Audio as the sole Australian distributor for Kiseki.

The appointment is not surprising, since Magenta Audio is already the Australian distributor for Prima Luna amplifiers, which are also manufactured by Herman van den Dungen. The Purple Heart is part of Kiseki’s ‘N.S.’ (New Series) range, which van den Dungen says has ‘renewed, improved, upgraded, and perfected’ the models in the original series.

Top of the pops: Chord Electronics’ outstanding Hugo 2

By | September 17th, 2017|Categories: DAR|Tags: , , , , , , , |

Chord Electronics’ first foray into portable audio came three years ago with the Hugo — a DAC and headphone amplifier brick that goes where you go. The Hugo set this British manufacturer on a fresh trajectory, catering to headphone listeners on the go.

What Chord didn’t anticipate was how the Hugo’s standalone DAC performance would see it land in numerous loudspeaker systems, on permanent recharge, where it might never see a headphone — not ever. Like the football cliche, the Hugo became a game of two halves, the second of which begat the tabletop Hugo TT.… Read the full article

Noble’s Classic line got a fairly substantial revamp last year and we have been working our way through them steadily since then.

The Sage sits somewhere in the middle of the range priced at $599 and after speaking with The Wizard at CanJam Singapore I got a feeling the Sage was sort of “his baby project” or at least a certain sound he has been tweaking for a while.… Read the full article

Picture Sunday: Unique Melody ME1

By | September 17th, 2017|Categories: Headfonia|Tags: , , , , , , , , |

Disclaimer: The stars in this weeks’ picture Sunday is the Unique Melody ME1. This post is a part of our Picture Sunday series.

Last week’s most interesting delivery at the HFN headquarters was the Unique Melody ME1. After the Audeze iSine IEMs, the UM ME1, is the next universal IEM using the planar magnetic technology, aka, Orthodynamic.

The ME1 likes the iSines is larger in size than most of the universal IEMs but that – for now – is something we’ll have to get used to with this .… Read the full article
