Time to give up on TAS

By | August 20th, 2018|Categories: Audiomatters|

I’ve been a subscriber for over 20 years and have the back issues to prove it in my basement. There’s no doubt it’s a beautifully produced magazine with wonderful photography which I happily browse  and consider too good to throw out when done. But the time has come to recognize that for me at least, the content is no longer there.

I took a look at the last year or so of issues as I got ready to consign them downstairs and, on a whim, took a page count.

Klipsch Heritage HP3 headphones REVIEW

By | August 20th, 2018|Categories: AV Hub|

By | August 20th, 2018|Categories: TechRadar|

With IFA 2018 just a mere week away, LG is taking the wraps off its 2018 Xboom lineup of speakers that will include the LG WK9 and LG WK7, as well as the PK3, PK5 and PK7 speakers, the latter of which now fall under the Xboom Go banner.

If some of these speakers look familiar, it’s because they appeared at CES 2018 earlier this year without the Xboom monicker next to their name.

“By expanding our XBOOM [LG's capitalization] brand to include wireless and smart speakers, LG is opening up new possibilities with XBOOM leading our entire home audio business,” said Head of LG's Convergence Audio and Video Business Division, Seo Young-jae in a press release.… Read the full article

Rick Rubin’s Road to Ruen—The Ruen Brothers’ “All My Shades of Blue”

By | August 20th, 2018|Categories: Analog planet|

The faded Crown (or Coronet) Records cover art, the borrowed “360 Sound” “Stereo” arrows in the top strip where “Ruen Brothers” replaces “Stereo” and the retro attitudinal looks on the faces of the two brothers, one wearing string tie, one not, hint at what’s in the grooves of this audacious Rick Rubin produced debut of the brothers RUpert and hENry Stansall also known as the Ruen Brothers. They are not poseurs. They are serious. They are on a “wake up” mission that’s been developing for four years.
