HIFIMAN HE1000se and HE6se arrive for review

By | October 31st, 2018|Categories: Innerfidelity|

A knock at the front door usually elicits a smile from me, a groan from my family and loud, vicious barking from our dog.

Why groans?

Because 99 per cent of the time it’s a delivery for InnerFidelity or AudioStream and means more boxes piled up in closets all over the house as I unpack the latest gear sent for review.

This time the knock was courtesy FedEx and HIFIMAN who have just shipped me their brand new HE1000se and HE6se headphones for review.… Read the full article

October 31, 2018 – Parker, Colorado: Amsterdam-based high-end audio manufacturer Metaxas, represented in the U.S. by Aaudio Imports, manufactures a complete system of electronics and speakers. Among them is a headphone amp/preamp christened, ‘Marquis.’

Priced at $6,750, the Marquis comes in a CNC-machined aluminum block in the shape of a human skull, available in one of ten aluminum colors or automotive paint finishes.

The Marquis’ CNC-machined base encloses the power supply to keep all stray RFI and noise from the delicate, low-level signal stages, with optional rechargeable battery pack for over 5 hours of use.

Review: iBasso IT04 – A Big Step

By | October 31st, 2018|Categories: Headfonia|Tags: , , , , , , , |

We are finally looking at the iBasso’s flagship In Ear Monitor, the iBasso IT04, and it surely is a great step forward for the brand.

Disclaimer: The iBasso IT04 was sent to me by the company itself for this review and iBasso is not affiliated with Headfonia in any way. The official price for the IT04 is 499$. I did not receive the consumer box so I can’t comment on the package content. The Sony WM1A Walkman is the source used for sound evaluation. Read the full article

THE VERDICT

Three years ago, Vizio’s flagship 65-inch Ultra HD set carried a $6,000 MSRP. Today’s P-Series Quantum, the most advanced and highest-performing model in the company’s lineup, retails for $2,100. That’s a boon for consumers—and a serious throwdown to the competition.

Founded in 2002, Vizio is an American company headquartered in California that aims to offer top-quality TVs at prices appealing to a wide range of consumers.

A short film about the KEF LSX

By | October 31st, 2018|Categories: DAR|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , |

“Honey, I shrunk the LS50 Wireless” might be the snappiest way to describe KEF’s latest active loudspeaker: into a compact, Danish-fabric-wrapped cabinet, designed by one Michael Young and landing in five colour options, goes a new version of the British loudspeaker company’s Uni-Q driver array, internally juiced by Class D amplification – 70w for the mid/bass, 30w for the tweeter – and crossed over in a DSP engine that takes its binary feed from the (also internal) digital streaming board. An attractive hi-fi system in a box for apartment dwellers and bedroom producers.… Read the full article

ESS Laboratories 12″ AMT Series Loudspeakers

By | October 31st, 2018|Categories: Positive Feedback|Tags: , |

Part 1 – The Review

You know, it’s not every day you get the opportunity to review something as legendary as the ESS speaker. It reminded me of my journey with Jantzen speakers long ago, it can be a tad intimidating as there is just so much rich history about the brand that you want to convey—with words and pictures keeping with a concise article so that the readers don’t lose interest too fast. As you may have learned by now my style is succinct, to the point conveying emotion and such—less “sciency” stuff (that can be found just about anywhere).… Read the full article

5 Steps to Better Bass in Your Home Theater

5 Steps to Better Bass

5 Steps to Better Bass

This 5-Step supplemental article assumes you already have a home theater system and simply want to improve the bass response for better impact and accuracy. This article also assumes you’ve properly set up the bass management in your AV receiver or processor and made all of the necessary connections to your speakers and subwoofers.

If you’re running only one subwoofer, it may be time to upgrade and get a second matching sub. Dual subwoofers are ALWAYS better than a single subwoofer for distributing uniform bass across a wider listening area and also coupling very low frequencies for greater depth and dynamic range.

2019 High-End Audio Buyer’s Guide: Desktop Loudspeakers

Audioengine A2+ $249 Easily one of the best deals in high-end audio, the Audioengine A2+ powered desktop speakers are simply incredible. Perfect for the workshop, bedroom, desk, or dorm, the A2+’s should be at the top of everyone’s small, powered desktop-speaker list.… Read the full article
