By | June 6th, 2019|Categories: AV Hub|

Samsung’s 98-inch 8K QLED TV has now arrived on our shores…

8K TV resolution is all about larger screen sizes, so we’ve been relatively unenthused over Samsung’s release of 55-inch, even 65-inch 8K TVs, as you’d need to be sitting inches from the screen to get much of the benefit of the increased resolution over 4K.

But now the monster-sized TVs are arriving, in sizes that can rival projection systems, and with resolution and brightness beyond anything the big-screen can yet deliver.… Read the full article

EMM Labs PRE stereo preamplifier Review

By | June 6th, 2019|Categories: Dagogo|Tags: , |

About this time last year, I received what EMM Labs referred to as the Reference PRE. The only identification that appears on the preamp are the letters PRE, which I find a bit confusing, given that the earlier design was called the PRE2. While I really did not expect drastic improvements from the PRE over the PRE2, I hooked it up in my system and almost immediately realized that the PRE was a stunning leap forward. The remainder of this review focuses on the differences and how those differences contribute to a more lifelike recreation of the recorded event.

Can You Build a Better Mousetrap?

This is not so much a review of a new cartridge as it is about what happens when you take a tried and true cartridge and make significant modifications to the body, cantilever, and stylus of the cartridge. To down play the impact of cartridge body design and material is to lack an understanding of the overall cartridge as a package. Just look at the existing field of phono cartridges and the materials selected for housings.… Read the full article

Lone Star Audio Fest 2019 Hootenanny

DALLAS (PTA) — Everything I thoroughly enjoy about audio shows seldom has to do with audio. As for the Lone Star Audio Fest 2019 in Dallas,Texas, it proved itself to be one of the more rambunctious of America’s hi-fi events. The Lone Star Audio Fest pulled-off great sound, and an equally great party atmosphere.

From sunrise-to-sunset — and often those dark hours in between — this festival of sound is equal parts “High-End Audio Show” and “a Drinking Community with a Hi-Fi problem.Read the full article

AMD Processors: the best AMD CPUs in 2019

By | June 6th, 2019|Categories: TechRadar|

In the last few years, the AMD vs Intel battle has been heated up considerably, thanks in large part to the best AMD processors that have been Intel a run for its money.
