Gears 5 is the ‘largest Gears to date’, according to The Coalition

By | July 18th, 2019|Categories: TechRadar|

We've been waiting a long time for Gears 5 to release and, according to developer The Coalition, the wait is going to be worth it.

In an interview with Game Informer, The Coalition's multiplayer design director Ryan Cleven revealed the next installation in the Gears of War franchise is going to be the biggest we've seen yet, primarily due to its wide and diverse range of modes.

"Gears 5 is the largest Gears of War to date," Cleven said. "It's the largest campaign ever made, the largest PvE ever made, the largest versus ever made."

This isn't particularly surprising considering the vast number of single and multiplayer modes Gears 5 is bringing with it: Campaign, Escape, Horde, Arcade, Tour of Duty, Bootcamp, Escalation, King of the Hill, Arms Race, Dodgeball, Execution, Guardian, Team Deathmatch and Warzone. And, those are just some of the ones we know about at launch.… Read the full article

Cyberpunk 2077 will look best on PS5 and Project Scarlett

By | July 10th, 2019|Categories: TechRadar|

When it comes to Cyberpunk 2077, the development team is putting consoles first, according to CD Projekt Red's UI director Alvin Liu.

In an interview with Wccftech, Liu was asked about the challenges of optimizing Cyberpunk 2077 for low-end hardware.

"Actually no, we have a very custom engine, the RED Engine," Liu responded. "And actually, we’re targeting consoles as first class platforms and it looks amazing there. So obviously, if you spent, you know, $2,000 building your PC rig, it’s going to look better on that.… Read the full article

Horizon Zero Dawn 2: everything we know about the rumored Horizon sequel

By | July 9th, 2019|Categories: TechRadar|

With a next-generation PlayStation just around the corner, we can't help but think about the games we may see on the upcoming PS5. Will see some new IPs? Maybe the return of some beloved PlayStation classics?

Sony has had huge success with its PS4 exclusives, particularly post-apocalyptic RPG Horizon Zero Dawn. Horizon Zero Dawn is one of the best-selling games on the PS4, selling over 10 million copies and cementing itself as a must-have title. So it would make perfect sense for Guerrilla Games to develop a sequel, right?… Read the full article

Borderlands 3 will have an Apex Legends-style ping system

By | July 8th, 2019|Categories: TechRadar|

There's only a few more months to wait until you and the squad can jump into Borderlands 3. Online multiplayer is arguably one of the Borderlands series' strongest features but if you are more of a lone-wolf, or don't have a great gaming mic, you may find yourself a little unenthused about playing with others.

Taking this into account, Borderlands 3 developer Gearbox Software is aiming to make Borderlands 3's multiplayer easier to jump into.

At a panel at Guardian Con last week (via PC Gamer), Gearbox revealed it has added a range of new features to Borderlands 3 to make multiplayer more accessible than its predecessors.… Read the full article

God of War 2 PS4: everything we know about the rumored God Of War sequel

By | July 3rd, 2019|Categories: TechRadar|

It's only been a year since the critically acclaimed (and our Game of the Year 2018 winner) God of War reboot launched exclusively on PlayStation 4, but we're already looking to the future.

Despite Sony remaining tight-lipped on the subject, the success of God of War means a sequel is probably on the way (perhaps another God of War 2?). In addition, Sony Santa Monica has posted job listings for a number of roles across its teams – with one listing clearly citing the God of War reboot.

At this point, it's most likely that God of War 2 will come to PS5 than the PS4 but, in the interest of not getting confused with the other God of War 2, we've opted to refer to it as God of War PS4.

So, with that out of the way, we've gathered together all the rumors and news surrounding the God of War sequel for your perusal right here.… Read the full article

Here’s what it’s like to play Final Fantasy 7 Remake if you never played the original

By | June 27th, 2019|Categories: TechRadar|

Final Fantasy is a pretty big deal. Well, that’s what I’ve gathered. As someone who writes about games for a living, my dark secret is that I’ve never actually played a Final Fantasy game to completion. Sure, I’ve dabbled here and there – a few hours of Final Fantasy X here and bit of Final Fantasy XV there – but I’ve never truly immersed myself in any of the games and, worse yet, apparently I’ve been playing the worst titles in the series.

As ashamed as I feel, there’s no denying that everyone has at least one huge game or franchise that they somehow completely missed the boat with: BioShock, The Witcher, maybe The Sims?… Read the full article
