By | March 11th, 2019|Categories: Headphones - Headmania|Tags: , , , , , |

If you have read my review of FiiO FH-5, those headphones got me excited about in ears in general. Since then I have actually bought a pair of JH13-V2Pro, but more about that in a later review. Meanwhile I managed to get my hands on a pair of Brainwavz B400.

Introduction & Specs

The B400 are Balanced Armature Earphones with 4 drivers inside. When I first looked at them, the design reminded me of Shure 215, as they have the same see through aspect.… Read the full article

FiiO FH5 In Ear Headphones – Review

By | September 10th, 2018|Categories: Headphones - Headmania|Tags: , , , |

It has been a while since I’ve listened to products from FiiO. Usually they have managed to impress me with the quality of their products, especially in that price range.

Now that I have a newborn, it’s harder to find time to listen to my speaker system, so I started to look for a portable option. I also owned the first pair of in ears from FiiO, the EX1, which again were really nice for the price, but were a little bright (V sound) for my tastes on the long term.… Read the full article

Syllable D900 – Review

By | March 31st, 2017|Categories: Headphones - Headmania|Tags: , , , , |

In a world where high end headphones seems to evolve the wrong way, meaning that almost every big headphone manufacturer started doubling the price with every new model, I figured I go in the other direction for a while, to the cheaper market to see what lays there.

Build quality, looks & specs

Syllable D900 Mini Review(15).JPG

The first thing I noticed about the Syllable D900 Mini is that they come with their own carrying case which is also a charging “station” as it includes a battery inside and can be charged using a usb cable.… Read the full article

General Presentation and Specs

Xiami MI Pro HD Review.JPG

The packaging and unboxing is quite nice and gives you the impression that you bought a more expensive product. Even the eardbuds are made of metal (Zircon to be more exact), not cheap plastic. They also come with a small carrying pouch.

The presentation of these headphones on the manufacturer’s website is quite impressive and in Audiophile world you would pay big bucks for a product like that.

Let’s go through some interesting features the Xiamon MI Pro HD have.… Read the full article

Superlux HD-681 Review

By | March 31st, 2017|Categories: Headphones - Headmania|Tags: , , , |

I’ve heard a lot of good things about these headphones throughout the ears and they’ve managed to capture my attention, so here we are.

Looks & Build Quality

Superlux HD681 Review.JPG

For their price these headphones are quite well built. They’re mostly built out of plastic, but the way they’re put together seems to make them durable and quite sturdy. They gave me the feeling I can trow them around without any serious consequences.

They’re semi-open headphones and they’re certainly not enough isolated for traveling, but they have a good isolation and I think you can listen to music without bothering someone near you at work or in your home.… Read the full article

ADL H128 Closed Headphones-Review

By | February 15th, 2017|Categories: Headphones - Headmania|Tags: , , , , |

Recently I’ve stumbled upon some new headphones, the ADL H128  and I thought they might deserve a try.

At the first sight and feel, these headphones feel sturdy. However, there is a lot of plastic involved and I don’t know how they will stand after a prolonged usage.

What I liked about them was that the detachable cable had a mini xlr input inside the headphone. I like this type of input because it’s very easy to attach and detach.… Read the full article

AudioQuest NightHawk Headphones – Review

By | October 4th, 2016|Categories: Headphones - Headmania|Tags: , , |

These headphones managed to get my attention since Canjam 2015 in Essen. While I didn’t quite managed to get how it sounded at the show, due to insufficient time, these headphones had something that impressed me.

Due to HighEndAudio Audio store in Bucharest, I have managed to get a loaner unit for this review.

General Presentation

Where do I start, there are so many things to be said about how this headphone was built. I won’t get into all the details but I will refer some of them here.… Read the full article

SoundMagic HP200 Headphones – Review

I’m really happy I got to hear these headphones as they kind of took me by surprise. I can tell you that the don’t get the attention they  deserve.

Build Quality & Looks

These headphones are mostly made of plastic, but it seems to be of good quality. It doesn’t have a cheap feel or looks at all. It seems well built and is also quite comfortable. The headband seems to distribute the weight so it doesn’t create a pressure point on your head as some other headphones do.… Read the full article

Sennheiser HD800S – Review

By | April 9th, 2016|Categories: Headphones - Headmania|Tags: , , , |

I’ve had HD800 for more than 2 years now and I can safely say that I love those headphones, which are quite a marvel from a technical perspective and they’ve been released in 2009, so approximately 7 years ago.

Beside the very strong points of HD800 like soundstage, details, transient speed and attack, imaging, etc. , these headphones also had 2 problems from my perspective: incomplete bass and a peak on the treble that made them sibilant with many recordings.

These problems are quite known in the community and I’ve been expecting a move from Sennheiser for a while now regarding these issues.… Read the full article

Compared to HD800

As you may know, I am a big fan of HD800 as well. They are a still a technological marvel and I’ve been enjoying them at my house for a few years now. After getting my speakers, Piega Premium 5.2, but especially the Focal Electra 1028, I found myself to listen to them on fewer and fewer occasions.… Read the full article
