I love that the headphone market is starting to get the attention it deserves. I see new companies that get into the game quite often in the last period.

Actually, the headphone in this review is a new project on kickstarter founded by Fiil.

Presentation and Specs

The first thing I noticed when I opened the package was a small but classy and well built carrying case. The headphones themselves seem to be very well but elegantly built. Actually, they feel and look like a premium headphone.… Read the full article

Audioquest Dragonfly Red – Review

By | October 4th, 2016|Categories: Portable - Headmania|Tags: , , , , |

When I’ve seen the first Dragonfly originally released in 2012, I was like “What is it with this little USB drive?” I was really skeptical it can sound good, only to be astonished afterwards in my listening sessions with it.

Meanwhile, Audioquest wanted to release 2 versions of the initial Dragonfly that are even more portable than the first. Well, how could it be more portable? Is it even smaller? No, but the new versions can be used with Android and Apple devices now.… Read the full article

This good looking amplifier managed to catch my attention at Canjam this year through its build quality, looks and of course its sound. I have managed to get a review unit with the courtesy of so here we are.

Meze 99 Classics Headphones – Review

By | November 1st, 2015|Categories: Portable - Headmania|Tags: , , , , |

Recently I was  pleasantly surprised to find out that a new full sized closed, over the ears headphones was released on the market, the Meze 99 Classics.

The real surprise was to find out that the founders of Meze are Romanians. I am always glad when I see fellow Romanians take the next step into this hobby. As you may already know,  I don’t write reviews of products I do not like. This is actually a policy of HeadMania.

So, you can naturally assume that these headphones deserve a review and your attention, and you are certainly right!… Read the full article

FiiO X3 II – Review

By | May 22nd, 2015|Categories: Portable - Headmania|Tags: , , , , |

I’ve been expecting the updated version of X3 for a while now. Since I’ve reviewed FiiO X1 and liked it more than X3, I was already sure that the latter will be replaced by an updated version soon.

Well the time is here as the second generation X3 is here, ready to be reviewed.

FiiO X3 2 Review (7)

At the first glance, it looks very similar to X1, but it has a sturdier build quality. Even the user experienced was improved, especially by the rubber menu wheel which is considerably more precise and easier to use overall, quite better than the one in X5 actually.… Read the full article

Shure 535 LTD – Review

By | February 14th, 2015|Categories: Portable - Headmania|Tags: , , , , , |

I had to go to Boston, Massachusetts a few months ago with some work related stuff. After the first day in Boston, I started thinking that a pair of in ear headphones wouldn’t be a bad idea, as I already missed listening to my music. I said to myself that I don’t want to spend too much money on them and I’ve ordered the Shure SE 215k, which should be very good for the money. I got them the next day, but the night before I was already looking at the Shure 535 and I felt sorry I didn’t buy them.… Read the full article

FiiO E12A – Review

By | February 10th, 2015|Categories: Portable - Headmania|Tags: , , , , , |

Since the first time I’ve heard FiiO X5 I became one of its fans and I do own one for myself now. I’m enjoying it almost everyday at work and in vacations.

A few weeks ago, one of my good friends came with something in his hand that looked pretty much like a bomb. It was actually an X5 paired with the new FiiO E12A.

I thought it was the normal E12 which I liked a lot, but then he explained that it is the IEM Special Edition which drew my attention even more.… Read the full article

I was made aware of Micro – iDSD by a friend of mine a few months ago near it’s release date. Looking at the specs I was really impressed.
