telluriumq_blackdiamond

Jerold O’Brien has posted a review of the Tellurium Q Silver Diamond speaker cables ($7500) at TONEAudio. His conclusions:

“Value is a highly relative subject; cable is nearly always a hotspot and I admit to being more prejudiced against spending big money on it, yet the Tellurium Q Silver Diamond speaker cables deliver more music than anything I’ve yet experienced. I highly suggest auditioning them the next time you’re considering spending some money on a system upgrade.”

Magico S1 Mk.II Loudspeaker

magico_s1mkii

Hans Wetzel has posted a review of the Magico S1 Mk.II loudspeakers ($16,500) at SoundStage! Hi-Fi. His conclusions:

“With its immaculately lifelike sound, sterling midrange neutrality, and soaring top end, Magico’s S1 Mk.II revealed an incredible amount of low-level musical detail without sounding clinical, and was engaging without resorting to artifice. Most impressive, it produced a good portion of the tight-fisted, concussive bass you’d expect from a small three-way design, and in that sense is the first two-way speaker I’ve heard that doesn’t sound like a two-way.”

cocktailaudio_x12

Vince Hanada has posted aq review of the Cocktail Audio X12 music server-integrated amplifier ($699) at SoundStage! Access. His conclusions:

“The small amp in its diminutive case makes the X12 best suited for use in smaller spaces, such as bedrooms or dorm rooms. In that context, and with the right speakers, the addition of a Cocktail Audio X12 should result in a satisfying music system.”

Garrett Hongo has posted a review of the fo.Q Modrate HEM-25 Pure Note insulators ($1125/set of four) at SoundStage! Ultra. His conclusions:

“f you haven’t yet addressed extraneous interior vibrations in your system, as I had not, and if you’ve settled on most of your components and want to take things to the next level, seriously consider investing in one or more sets of these excellent tweaks. They’ve shown me that my electronics can be taken to higher levels of sound quality than I’d thought possible and improved my listening in ways I hadn’t imagined.”

Leema Acoustics Libra DAC

By | June 15th, 2016|Categories: Ultra High End Review|Tags: , |

leema_libra

Ed Selley has posted a review of the Leema Acoustics Libra DAC (£5995) at Hi-Fi+. His conclusions:

“Judged as a line-level DAC, it offers plentiful inputs, truck-like build, and a performance that delivers a wide variety of music without any signs of strain or issue. These are attributes that can be pinned to a number of rivals, though: there’s no overriding reason to choose the Libra over a number of equally well thought out competitors. Spend some time with the Libra acting as preamp for a system as well as a DAC however, and it begins to make more and more sense.”

Opera Consonance Reference DSD1.1 DAC

consonance_referencedsd11

Nicholas Ripley has posted a review of the Opera Consonance Reference DSD1.1 DAC (£1595) at Hi-Fi+. His conclusions:

“Ultimately, the Opera Consonance Reference DSD1.1 is an extremely good device, straddling as it does the old-school ‘add me to a CD player’ DAC and the new world of USB. It’s a refined performer, which is all the more attractive when you compare it to many of the assaults on the ears delivered by more forward-sounding DACs and streamers.”

Cayin iDAC-6 DAC and iHA-6 Headphone Amplifier

By | June 14th, 2016|Categories: Ultra High End Review|Tags: , , , |

cayin_idac

John Grandberg has posted a review of the Cayin iDAC-6 DAC ($999) and iHA-6 headphone amplifier ($999) at InnerFidelity. His conclusions:

“At $999 each, these two straddle some sort of line…I’m sure some would call them “affordable” while others would balk at that price as being way out of reach. Personally I think it’s actually a somewhat interesting space—we’ve got plenty of affordable gear in the sub-$500 range, and lots of all-out-statement type pieces with huge price tags, but not as much in between those two extremes.”
