Perfect Hi-Fi will have two demo systems in this weekend’s Kuala Lumpur International AV Show. One will feature high-end expensive components while the other will feature more affordable Cambridge Audio components.


The more affordable system will comprise the Cambridge Audio Alva TT turntable, the Cambridge Audio Edge NQ Streamer/Preamp, Cambridge Audio Edge W Power amp and Golden Ear Triton Reference speakers. Cabling will be the Nordost TYR2 and Frey2.… Read the full article

Obituary: Siegfried Linkwitz (1935–2018)

Siegfried Linkwitz, the co-inventor of the Linkwitz-Riley crossover, a favourite of loudspeaker manufacturers and DIY speaker builders the world over, has died, aged 82.

When asked about his many inventions over the years, Linkwitz would often invoke one of his favourite Ralph Waldo Emerson quotes: ‘We are all inventors, each sailing out on a voyage of discovery, guided each by a private chart, of which there is no duplicate. The world is all gates, all opportunities.

Although Linkwitz designed and built loudspeakers his entire adult life, and was associated with several well-known loudspeaker manufacturers, including Audio Artistry, where he was vice-president of engineering, and his own company, Linkwitz Labs, he worked full time in the research and development department of test and measurement company Hewlett-Packard (now Keysight Technologies) for 37 years, developing and helping develop state-of-the-art electronic test equipment including microwave spectrum analysers, network analysers and EMI receivers.… Read the full article

Lennie James, Morgan Jones on The Walking Dead

The peak-era TV juggernaut known as The Walking Dead continues to roll-roll-roll along on its bloody and unbowed path, and it remains one of the best-shot, best-designed, best-looking, and best-sounding shows being broadcast today. That said, TWD is actually best enjoyed on hi-res disc, and its ever-galvanizing eighth season was just released by Lionsgate on Blu-ray and DVD. Lennie James, who plays the struggling pacifist Morgan Jones, discusses why his character endures, why he feels the show’s soundscapes are underrated, and how two other cult-favorite characters he’s portrayed over the years might fare if they met Morgan on the road in the zombie apocalypse.
