John Franks and Rob Watts of Chord Electronics will be in Australia in September to present Chord’s new Poly streaming module at information nights in both Sydney and Melbourne.

The Chord Poly is essentially a condensed PC with data server that acts as a DLNA receiver and Wi-Fi hub, plus contains a Bluetooth module and an SD card reader/player in order to enable wireless audio playback from smartphones.

Because the Poly acts as a Wi-Fi and Bluetooth hub it can access music in a number of ways including streaming over Wi-Fi, network storage devices (NAS) and collections stored on SD cards (using MPD). Bluetooth connectivity and AirPlay functionality provide real flexibility with smartphones and enable multiple Mojo/Poly combinations to be used throughout the home, providing a high-quality multi-room streaming playback solution.

Chord’s Poly is compatible with the latest high-resolution-audio file types and supports PCM files up to 768kHz resolution and DSD64 to DSD512 (Octa-DSD) and  integrates with music players such as Roon.

The information nights will focus on the new Chord Poly, which is an extremely powerful product,’ said Chris Strom, of Radiance Audio Visual, which distributes Chord in Australia. ‘But John and Rob will also be holding Q&A sessions where attendees will be able to ask questions about any Chord products including the Hugo2, and Rob will also be talking about his  latest “M scaler” technology that’s used in the new Blu2 transport, which is the world’s first 1 million tap length transport/upscaler.’

Attendance at both evenings is free, everyone is welcome to attend, and some light refreshments will be provided during both evenings, but all those planning to attend are requested to register by email.
