Jeff Rowland has introduced its new Model 535 Stereo Power amplifier.
As with all Jeff Rowland products, the new 535 has a chassis that’s milled from a solid block of aircraft grade 6061-T6 aluminium. Internally, a Rogers ceramic PCB is home to all the lead-free surface-mount components with signals to and from the PCBs being carried by Teflon-coated wiring.
Rated with a power output of 250-watts per channel into 8Ω loads and 500-watts per channel into 4Ω loads when operated in stereo mode, the Model 535’s two channels can also be bridged for single-channel operation, in which mode the amplifier is claimed to deliver 900-watts into an 8Ω load. ‘The 5s5 uses the balanced transformerless bridging technique, using separate mono input and output connectors allow for easy, foolproof mono configuration,’ said Boris Granovsky, of Absolute HiEnd, which distributes Jeff Rowland products in Australia. ‘Bridged amplifier gain is automatically maintained at the same 26dB level as stereo amplifier gain for easy implementation into multi-amped systems,’ he added, ‘thanks to the use of custom designed input rransformers, wound with Cardas “six nines” copper wire, which also virtually eliminate ground loop noise and RFI/EMI interference.’
The Jeff Rowland Model 535 incorporates active power factor correction to reduce a.c. line harmonic noise pollution and increase a.c. line power utilisation to 99 per cent, which is made possible through Jeff Rowland using a high-efficiency SMPS (switch mode power supply) instead of conventional linear analogue power transformer/rectifier/capacitor circuitry. ‘The 535’s highly efficient switch-mode power supply provides optimum voltage regulation for all circuits across all operating conditions and allows for a quiet operation over a wide range of a.c. mains power sources,’ Granovsky told Australian Hi-Fi Magazine. ‘Power supply capacitance has been increased 100 per cent to improve overall performance under demanding operating conditions.’ Available now, the Jeff Rowland Model 535 Stereo Power Amplifier retails for $9,900 (RRP).
