Award Received in December, 2017

“It’s rare that something truly different comes along in the world of loud-speaker cables – but Chord’s new Sarum T is just that…

They are easily as good as some much more expensive rivals, being open, uncoloured and superbly natural – letting you hear the sound of your amplifier and loudspeakers as they should be.”

By | November 19th, 2017|Categories: DAR|Tags: , , |

Near the central railway station, the Radisson Blu Sobieski and Golden Tulip hotels house 70+ exhibitors. A few kilometres down the road and, the PGE National Stadium accommodates a further 140 rooms plus a headphone area to rival CanJam Europe.… Read the full article

MagicoM6-1

All will be revealed in Tokyo next week.

September 29th is creeping up faster than a distracted driver in a Tesla on a deaf dog crossing the road, and with that show’s launch will come some interesting news from inert-speaker designers extraordinaire Magico: The all-new M6. The 2014 M-Project saw the limited-edition M3 hit markets, and create real industry buzz among consumers, and critics alike for its sonic capabilities, so as a follow-on, the company decided to push the envelope even further, and push out as challenging a design as they could in 2017.… Read the full article

LA Audio Show 2017: Upscale Audio’s PrimaLuna Dialogue HP integrated much more than ‘good for the money’

Veritable bevy of valves.

If you run into a friendly, middle-aged man at an audio show calling himself “Uncle Kevvy,” you can be sure that nearby there will be two things: lots of tubes and good sound.

laas1He may not be your real uncle, but Kevin Deal will treat any tube lover like family. The owner of Upscale Audio eats, sleeps and dreams about valves and has an affinity for audiophiles who share his passion.

When not selling a broad range of new equipment from his large Upland, California-based store, his idea of a vacation is going overseas and rummaging in dusty warehouses for overlooked boxes of new-old-stock tubes.… Read the full article

Blog: High End Munich 2017 – Picture Report Part 2

This is Part 2 of the High End Munich 2017 show report, you can find Part 1 right HERE.

Hifiman

Of course our friends from Hifiman were in Munich and they had several exciting new products to show. First of all there were the two new IEMs

I personally preferred the tuning of the RE2000 but the 800 was the the most neutral of both. After I listened to these Mark let me listen to the EF1000 which was connected to two Susvara headphones, one in balanced and one in Single Ended mode

I usually tend to prefer the balanced output but with the new HE-6 I preferred the single ended output.… Read the full article

High End Munich. My favorite show of the year! Why is that you say? Well, it has all the (big) brands that really matter, all the product launches, it’s not too crowded and it has beer. Oh and to get there we have 700 kilometers of unlimited German Autobahn.

As usual this will be a picture report of the show, split over two parts as there are over 100 pictures: Eye candy à volonté. Enjoy!

Abyss

The “normal” Abyss is one of the very best headphones around.… Read the full article

Be more active with Dynaudio’s 2017 Focus XD range

By | February 22nd, 2017|Categories: DAR|Tags: , , , , , |

Far easier for the Victor Meldrews of the audiophile world to dismiss the manufacturer aiming beyond the audiophile echo chamber as pandering to hipsters than it is to admit a new product worthy of (their) closer scrutiny. Doubly so when a product dares to challenge established thinking.

Offering an alternative to passive loudspeakers powered by outboard amplifiers (once again) are Dynaudio. If we are to believe the Danish company’s promo shots, the 2017 revision of its Focus XD active loudspeaker range is aimed at younger folk than you’ll find at the average audio show.… Read the full article
