A short film about the Meze 99 Classics

By | September 18th, 2018|Categories: DAR|Tags: , , , , , , |

Sunday, Sunday here again, tidy attire. You read the colour supplement, the TV guide.

Music on, hi-fi world off. With six and a half days of the week devoted to hi-fi reviewing – couriers, packing/unpacking, setups/configurations, listening, note-taking, write-ups, photo/video shoots and associated editing – Sunday morning calls timeout on the day job: a chance to lazily read a few chapters of a book, to sip on a (very long) black coffee – until it goes cold – and to sink into music behind headphones.… Read the full article

Colour me smitten with Meze’s 99 Classics

By | May 26th, 2018|Categories: DAR|Tags: , , , , |

I split my time between two lovely places: Devon ( green undulating countryside, rocky coast) and Norfolk, my partner Nikki’s home (big skies, brooding salt marshes). Getting a music fix in Norfolk and with decent sound quality is problematic. My 2 channel system – Ayre and Harbeths – Isn’t luggable and besides, requisitioning someone else’s lounge room for loudspeaker listening risks a bloodbath (think Games of Thrones’ Red Wedding).

Review: Meze 99 NEO – riot

By | May 4th, 2017|Categories: Headfonia|Tags: , , , , , , , , |

Disclaimer: Meze sent Meze 99 NEO to me, free of charge. It goes for 249$ USD. You can find out all about it here: Meze 99 NEO.

It’s every bit as comfortable, every bit as light, every bit as well-hung as the original. Meze 99 NEO is the new, lower priced, re-refined 99 Classics. It’s a bit of a point of guilt for me to admit that I like this 50$ cheaper headphone as much as its big brother.… Read the full article

The Meze 99 Classics Review

By | March 1st, 2016|Categories: Audiohead|Tags: , , |

Meze-6

Meze headphones may currently live on the outer fringes of the audiophile market (my review sample was shipped all the way from Romania), but my experience with the brand thus far puts their latest personal audio efforts front and center in the already crowded market of $300-ish lifestyle headphones. To be exact, the new 99 Classics closed back cans ($310) pull no punches when it comes to build, style and performance.

At first glance, the 99’s may come off as a similar offering to the collective effort of Sennheiser, V-moda or maybe even some Beats, but Meze’s design and material selection seem to put it above the baseline set for more mainstream lifestyle efforts.… Read the full article
