AXPONA 2019 KLH Rogers

AXPONA 2019 Show Coverage brought to you by Core Power Technologies

KLH Audio is back! And not to spoil the story, but nothing about the new KLH towers looks or sounds like a budget-friendly freshman effort. Working with Rogers High Fidelity amplification, the old adage of “spend the bulk of your money on the speakers” just went out the window.

AXPONA 2019 KLH Rogers

In 2017 KLH is was purchased by former Klipsch Global Sales President David P. Kelley, and is presently offering an all-new line of high-performance, value-oriented stereo, home theater and personal audio products.… Read the full article

AXPONA 2019 Show Coverage brought to you by Core Power Technologies

If you are a mastering engineer or have recorded an album in a world-class studio within the last thirty-five years, you are likely quite familiar with the work of Daniel Weiss. If your roots are instead more limited to the world of hi-fi, you should have come across a piece or two of Weiss Engineering‘s high-end hi-fi products somewhere over the last twenty years. At AXPONA 2019, Doug White of The Voice That Is!Read the full article

Muraudio, Hegel – AXPONA 2019

By | April 23rd, 2019|Categories: Audiohead|Tags: , , , |

Muraudio at AXPONA 2019.

Muraudio keeps on winning. Be it a massive stack of electronics, or a high-current Hegel integrated, the Muradio SP1 might be the new speaker to beat at around $15K.

This is not my first foray with The Muraudio SP1 full-range loudspeaker. Staying in their show-going path, I am all-in for the long term narrative. The SP1 was launched way back in March of 2018 and has since received many accolades from numerous publications in that time. Even from my own coverage of the SP1 at previous audio shows twice in 2018, and then again in 2019 ended up in my Must See Rooms.… Read the full article

Raven Audio, Two Speakers And An Integrated Amp – AXPONA 2019

By | April 23rd, 2019|Categories: Audiohead|Tags: , , , |

Raven Audio

Raven Audio is so much more than they were just a few years ago. Adding new amplifier models to their lineup and quickly becoming a serious player in the cable and loudspeaker industry is something I don’t even think Dave Thomas (founder of Raven) could have even predicted. If he did, the well kept secret is out now.

For many, this was the first chance to hear the two new Raven Audio towers that will surprise you to no end. Each included foam wave guides, and tuneful low-end.… Read the full article

F1 Audio, Magico, D’Agostino, Chord, Transparent – AXPONA 2019

F1 Audio, Magico, D’Agostino, Chord

I don’t even know where to begin. The guys from F1 Audio, Magico and D’Agostino aren’t playing a room, they are playing one of the largest open spaces on this convention center campus. There’s no practical explanation for this sounding as full and tight as it does, unless one were to point out the massive dual subwoofers, each weighing in at 575lbs. In the most absurd way, this would make one hell of a bedroom system.

Here’s the thing. F1 Audio is a high-end brick-and-mortar audio store located in Palatine for the Chicagoland area.… Read the full article

Legacy and Qobuz – AXPONA 2019

By | April 22nd, 2019|Categories: Audiohead|Tags: , , , , |

Legacy Audio

Legacy filled one of the larger Axpona exhibit rooms with almost their entire lineup, and the “V” rig taking center stage. This 4-way system is the first to use the Legacy Wavelet Processor (an advanced speaker & room resonance correction system with a high-end DAC/Preamplifier) and features open-air dipole midrange, dual subwoofers with internal amplification, two Legacy 4” long AMT tweeters in a specially optimized post convergent array. The big talking points at the Chicago audio show was a first time showing for the new Legacy Powerbloc amplifiers in this configuration.… Read the full article

AXPONA 2019 Show Coverage brought to you by the LSA Group

by Paul Elliott

I have known about Raven Audio and their tube amps for a number of years when I met Dave Thompson and friends at an earlier Capital Audiofest.  I was really impressed with the sound and look of his amps finding it hard to believe they were made in America and at the price point that was quite affordable.

I have watched the product line grow each year and surprised each year with all the new models.

AXPONA 2019 Show Coverage brought to you by the LSA Group

I believe this is the third time I’ve reported on the combination of BorderPatrol, Volti Audio and Triode Wire Labs in the last few months, so you’d think I’d have a handle on the sound by now. When I entered Room 688 at AXPONA 2019, I thought okay, these guys again, I’m gonna be impressed as usual but will I have anything new to say about this otherwise unique system?… Read the full article

AXPONA 2019 Show Coverage brought to you by the LSA Group

I’m as interested in a good “desk” audio system as the next guy, and I have dabbled in assembling various small systems in my office over the last few years. Thanks to my old buddy Arnold Martinez of Tweak Studio in Chicago and LA, I’ve just experienced a small computer-based audio system with a very satisfying overall sound, so much so that I could use it as my primary system for quite some time without missing a beat.… Read the full article
