Sony’s 2019 4K UHD TV Lineup How Do They Compare?

By | May 23rd, 2019|Categories: Audioholics|Tags: |

Just a few months after unveiling the first generation of its high-end Master Series TVs, which we previewed in October 2018, Sony announced new versions of its flagship OLED and LCD TVs at CES, along with a long list of more affordable 2019 TV models. Now the full details of the lineup are in, and it appears that Sony is not pulling any punches as it takes on Samsung and LG, the current leaders in LCD and OLED, respectively. The biggest news, quite literally, is the Z9G Master Series TV, Sony’s first 8K set, which maxes out at a colossal 98 inches, with a $70,000 price tag to match.

Vizio Readies Its New 2019 TV Lineup

By | April 30th, 2019|Categories: Audioholics|Tags: |

Since the company was founded in 2002, Vizio has risen from obscurity to become one of the top three TV manufacturers (based on US sales), initially making a name for itself by offering affordable TVs with decent performance for the highly competitive entry-level space in the market. But as Theo found in his recent review of the PQ65-F1 — the flagship model in the company’s 2018 TV lineup — Vizio’s higher-end TVs are now capable of performance that can challenge the best offerings from its rivals, while their relatively lower prices might make many shoppers think twice about dropping big bucks on a Samsung or Sony.

Our primary focus (and review rating) will focus on the P-Series Quantum.… Read the full article

Sony Aims High With Twin Flagship ‘Master Series’ TVs

By | October 10th, 2018|Categories: Audioholics|Tags: |

Sony was one of the first major TV manufacturers to ditch plasma and focus all of its attention on LCD TVs in the mid-2000s. Sony’s LCD models have maintained a reputation for good image quality, even if their sales have been overtaken by rival Samsung. Sony was also the first to release an OLED TV, the tiny (11-inch) XEL-1 OLED, back in 2007. After abandoning the tech for a number of years, Sony reentered the OLED business in 2017 with a full-size offering, the A1E, which the company produced by applying its own image-processing expertise to OLED panels supplied by LG.… Read the full article

Samsung’s 85-inch Q900FN 8K TV Lands In The U.S.

By | September 7th, 2018|Categories: Audioholics|Tags: |

Samsung has unveiled its new Q900FN TV, which will be the first 8K TV available in the United States when it begins shipping this October. Attendees of Berlin’s IFA trade show were the first to experience demos of the new 85-inch TV, which has a screen resolution of 7680 x 4320 pixels. If you don’t have a calculator handy, that’s a total of 33,177,600 pixels — four times the number displayed by today’s 4K UHD TVs, and sixteen times as many as a lowly 1080p display uses to create an HD image.… Read the full article
