The Neat Acoustics loudspeaker company was founded in 1989 in the U.K. by self-trained musician Bob Surgeoner. And it is this passion for music that has provided Surgeoner with the design foresight to create the Neat Acoustics range of Speakers.

NEAT Acoustics’ IOTA Alpha: small box, big sound

With one of the best names in high end audio, Co. Durham’s Bob Surgeoner heads up NEAT Acoustics, an acronym of North East Audio Traders – the hifi store run by Surgeoner before turning his hand to designing and making loudspeakers.

At the NEAT range’s entry point sits the five year old IOTA bookshelf (£650/pair) which utilises a 10cm Polypropylene cone and 5cm quasi-ribbon tweeter.

The IOTA’s unorthodoxy is that it is designed to sit on its site. That’s AOK for desks and sideboards but slightly more of a challenge when hunting down an appropriately styled speaker stand.
