The Audeze iSine LX

By | January 27th, 2018|Categories: Audiohead|Tags: , , , , , , , , , |

While we may be pushing the timeline around for daily readers of the site, the Audeze announcement that came out of CES this year was still bustling around the scene by the time we made it to the musician-friendly show NAMM. It was at this Anaheim show where we finally met up with representatives from the company and got the usual download from the OC startup known for producing some serious planar magnetic tech.

With the formal introduction and PR release landing a few weeks before, the news of a new addition to the iSine family came as a little bit of a surprise.… Read the full article

Review: Audeze iSine10 & iSine20 – Revolutionary

By | August 22nd, 2017|Categories: Headfonia|Tags: , , , , , , , , , |

Disclaimer: The Audeze iSine10 and iSine20 were sent to us directly from Audeze in exchange for this review. We have to apologize to Audeze for not having published this double review sooner.

Unless you’ve been hiding in a cave for the last decade, the Californian Audeze no longer needs an introduction. Audeze are experts in the field of orthodynamic headphones and with the LCD-2 they easily conquered the headphone scene. Every single model in their line-up sounds great and all of them received positive reviews from all over the world.… Read the full article

Picture Sunday: Audeze iSine20

By | April 30th, 2017|Categories: Headfonia|Tags: , , , , , , , , |

This week’s picture Sunday features the new Audeze iSine 20. To check out recent Picture Sunday Posts click HERE.

Everyone by now has surely heard about the unique looking and sounding Audeze iSine inear monitors. If you haven’t then head over to the Audeze website and read about the world’s first planar magnetic inear headphones. I specifically wrote “inear headphones” as that is exactly what they are: The iSine shouldn’t be looked at as just IEMs, they are more of mini-speakers that are right next to your ear.… Read the full article

Difference with a capital D: Audeze’s iSine 20

By | April 1st, 2017|Categories: DAR|Tags: , , , , , , |

The iSine 20 are in-ear monitors (IEMs) from California that take a pass on the norm of balanced armatures, dynamic drivers or a combination of the two. Each of the larger-than-average earpieces house a 3cm planar magnetic driver membrane, immediately behind which sits Audeze’s ‘Fluxor’ magnet system. When the source device’s electrical signal is passed through the planar driver membrane, its proximity to magnetic force causes it to flutter back and forth. Air is moved, music is made.

This is the same headphone tech used by Audeze in the over-ear offerings.… Read the full article

Audeze iSine 10 Review

By | March 13th, 2017|Categories: Audiohead|Tags: , , , , , , , |

Audeze is one of the few companies in personal audio that are truly blazing their own trail. To my knowledge, the new iSine 10 are the very first planar magnetic IEMs ever to come to market. The design is one that massively unique to Audeze, and from end-to-end across the listener’s experience.

The product line starts with the 10 for $399 ($349 w/o Cipher lighting cable), but also includes the step up iSine 20 for $599 ($549 w/o Cipher lighting cable).… Read the full article

Behind the scenes: a factory floor tour of Audeze

By | December 3rd, 2016|Categories: DAR|Tags: , , , , |

Buzz buzz buzzzzzzzz, tap tap tap. These are the sounds that permeate the factory of one of the world’s most revered headphone manufacturers. In an industrial park at the corner Hyland and Sunland Avenues in Costa Mesa, CA sits the headquarters of Audeze (pronounced Or-dezz-ee, not Or-deez).

Audeze specialise in planarmagnetic (aka orthodynamic) headphones. Their LCD range made them rock stars in the high-end head-fi world but moving product appeal toward the mass market took the EL-8, designed in collaboration with BMWDesignWorks USA.

The winds of change: Audeze’s iSine IEM at Fujiya Avic Autumn 2016

By | October 27th, 2016|Categories: DAR|Tags: , , , , |

hpfes2016-200Wait – can you hear that? On the lip of the wind, a change is coming. Audeze’s iSine are like no other IEM before them; they contain no balanced armature driver and no dynamic driver. What gives?

The Californian company have shrunk their planar-magnetic technology down to a 3cm diaphragm, added patented single-side ‘Fluxor’ magnets and associated ‘Fazor’ waveguides – plus some other “special sauce” (still under wraps) – that feed a wider-than-average output nozzle.

Unlike other IEMs, a tight in-ear seal is not required for the wearer to get in touch with the lower frequencies.

Audeze Takes On 360

By | October 24th, 2016|Categories: Audiohead|Tags: , , , |

Audeze is quickly becoming much more than just a headphone company. What started as humble roots from within the personal audio community has turned into large production facilities in Southern California and a tendency for defining the curve, rather than following it.

Much has already been said about the new iSine planar magnetic IEMs the company just debuted at RMAF. But the idea clearly represents what is going on at the core of the growing company’s ideology. Distilled down its about pushing boundaries, not merely higher prices upon the market.… Read the full article

Audeze’s New Planar Magnetic IEMs – The iSine 10 & 20

By | September 1st, 2016|Categories: Audiohead|Tags: , , , , , |

iSine 10 IEMs

Audeze continues to break new ground in the planar magnetic department with the introduction of a new universal-fit IEM that sports the technology in a hexagonal shape outside the ear. Dubbed the iSine, the new IEM weighs around 20 grams and utilizes Audeze’s proprietary Fluxor and Uniforce designs to deliver the film-and-magnet based technology to a space usually inhabited by either balanced armature or dynamic drivers of varying materials.

The new shape houses a 30mm planar magnetic diaphragm and retails for $399 for the 10 and $599 for the step-up 20 model.… Read the full article
