The New Dan D’Agostino Relentless Mono Blocks

By | May 10th, 2018|Categories: Audiohead|Tags: , , , , , , |

Dan D’Agostino has always created some of the prettiest amplifiers in all of high end audio and his newest creation appears to follow suit in a similar fashion – but this level of pretty doesn’t come cheap. The new Relentless Mono’s come home at $250k a pair, but some of that budget no doubt has to go to pay for the casework as the entire chassis is machined from solid aluminum with copper inlays.

The unique heat sink featured on the Relentless started with Dan’s Momentum series and claims superior heat dissipation, even during maximum output.… Read the full article

Vinnie Rossi, New Statement Monos And Pre – AXPONA 2018

By | April 20th, 2018|Categories: Audiohead|Tags: , , , , , , , |

Vinnie Rossi has me all tied up with the idea that I have to get my hands on a pair of Harbeths. Why? Because every time I hear his near field presentation at an audio show, it sound like angels singing…if angels knew 80s and 90s hits well enough, that is. Vinnie keeps the track selection fresh, fun and high fidelity. He knows now when he sees me that a good throwback to either of the previously mentioned decades will put a smile on my face and his selection is ripe with options.… Read the full article

High-End-Munich-2017-Wrap-Feature

So long, and thanks for all the memories.

I could see his lips moving but I couldn’t hear a word the guy next to me was saying. We were in the Silbatone room at the MOC for High End in Munich, and I had gone the aural equivalent of snow blind while taking in the massive vintage Western Electric horn system that was playing. Prior to attending High End I had read, and heard firsthand from friends, and associates that the big WE horns that Silbatone rock there were a must see for me when I went.… Read the full article

Moon by SimAudio 888 Power Amplifier – CES 2017

By | January 25th, 2017|Categories: Audiohead|Tags: , , , , , , |

I like it when product names correlate with something about the item. Such is case for the new 888 Power Amplifier from Moon by SimAudio. Guess what 888 represents? 888 Watts into 8 ohms, thats equates to 1776 into 4 ohms. The new flagship monoblock from the Canada-based SimAudio weighs a whopping 300 lbs. when it arrives on your doorstep, so in no regards may it be taken lightly, figuratively or literally.

Lionel Goodfield had the new 888 ($118,888/pair, see what they did there?) pushing a pair of Rockport Cygnus Loudspeakers ($62,500/pair) for a delightful combination in their listening suite at CES in Las Vegas.… Read the full article

Dan D’Agostino Progression Mono Amplifier

By | October 25th, 2016|Categories: Hifipig|Tags: , , , , , |

roksponsmallThe Progression mono amplifier is the largest and most powerful amplifier that the company has made, delivering 500 watts into 8 ohms, doubling to 1,000 watts into 4 ohms and doubling again to 2,000 watts into 2 ohms.

The Progression circuitry borrows greatly from our D’Agostino’s Momentum amplifiers. Its design couples their core circuit topologies and introduces a new Dan D’Agostino Master Audio Systems topology, the Super Rail. The Super Rail, counter-intuitively, uses additional higher voltage power supplies in the input stage than the main output stage.Read the full article
