CAF 2018: Legacy Audio, Raven Audio and the Texas Tube Sound

By | November 23rd, 2018|Categories: Part-Time Audiofile|Tags: , , , , |

I have an interesting history with both Raven Audio and Legacy Audio. Back when I lived in Texas, I’d travel up to the Lone Star Audio Fest which was held in Dallas every May. We even exhibited once or twice. LMAF is one of those small regional shows, mostly populated by the DIY crowd—you’ll see a lot of speaker prototypes that are still made from plywood cabinets, with a proud designer sitting nearby and gladly selling the schematics for very reasonable prices.… Read the full article

“Get ready for the new Raven Audio”

Like peanut butter and jelly, I can’t think of a finer synergy in hi-fi on display at Rocky Mountain Audio Fest. Legacy Audio loudspeakers have defined American design and lineage for several decades, but when the most recent years have gifted us the pairing of Legacy speakers and Raven Audio tube electronics, we’ve entered an era where the Legacy and Raven performance value now have to be considered legendary. Consistently one of the best exhibits in my audio show memory, a Legacy and Raven exhibit room by itself is still be worth the cost of admission.… Read the full article

If you are no stranger to the audio show circuit, then I probably don’t have to tell you that Legacy Audio and Raven Audio have put forth some of the most unique audio show exhibits during the last three years. Theirs is a partnership of recognized artistry, which will ultimately see both companies operating together on a higher plane in the near future.

Raven Audio is still riding high on their newest models that round out the Avian Series family of integrated amplifiers.… Read the full article

RMAF 2017: Must See Sunday and Eric’s MVP

Don’t fret, more in-depth coverage is coming soon from your slightly unorganized, inept, and dysfunctional writing crew at Part-Time Audiophile (I’m only including myself in this crew). In the meantime, here is a taste of what I found to be my favorite exhibits and MVP from the show. Hold over on these appetizers as we prepare to knock a few journalistic socks off in the coming days.

My favorite synergy of the show goes to these two.… Read the full article

RMAF 2017: New Legacy Audio software ‘unfolds’ stereo image

Stereophonic sound has been around for more than 85 years, but over the last few decades many of the attempts to better retrieve what’s in those two channels have yielded mostly incremental improvements. A new technology developed by Legacy Audio, however, is aimed at the aural equivalent of making the jump to light speed.

Legacy is unveiling its new software, called Stereo Unfold Technology, at the Rocky Mountain Audio Fest. The show starts today in Denver and runs through Sunday, but I snuck into the Legacy room Thursday night and made a pest of myself until the company’s president and chief designer, Bill Dudleston, gave me a demo.… Read the full article

Lone Star Audio Fest 2017

By | September 22nd, 2017|Categories: Positive Feedback|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , |

Passion, that one word sums it all up and answers many questions. Why collectively spend decades evolving a simple table radio into a complex collection of boxes and wires? Passion, to advance the state-of-the-art in home music reproduction chasing an absolute ideal of fidelity. Why spend hundreds of hours designing a product line of HiFi components then haul hundreds even thousands of pounds of equipment and furniture into a hotel for demonstrations? Passion, to share the joy and peak emotional experiences available from fine HiFi music reproduction.… Read the full article

You can’t just say “It’s awesome, buy it.”

Eliciting a gut reaction of confidence in consumers who speak your name in conversations of top tier service and products is neither straightforward, measurable, or paint by numbers. Decades of experience and market research at all levels of the supply chain are prerequisite to attaining a seat at the table with the most trusted names in hi-fi. Building a good product is not enough. Anyone telling you different has probably watched Field Of Dreams too many times.… Read the full article

Raven Audio Silhouette MK2 Reference Preamplifer and Shaman MK2 Mono Power Amplifiers

By | January 3rd, 2017|Categories: Positive Feedback|Tags: , , , , , , |

I’m no stranger to reviewing Raven Audio gear having previously reviewed a pair of the Raven Audio Silhouette Reference amplifiers and Silhouette Reference preamplifier, and the Shadow Reference stereo amplifier for PF. All Raven gear shares something in common, and that is the ability to reproduce music in such a way that it never fails to put a smile on your face and let you relax as the music washes over you. There is something intrinsically “right” about the sound of Raven gear and I have heard it in every piece of gear that I have heard from their growing stable or should I say roost?… Read the full article
