DENVER (PTA) — With Synergistic Research’s Ted Denny functioning as ringmaster, Scott Walker Audio assembled one of our favourite system experiences of the Rocky Mountain International Audio Fest 2019 weekend. Showing with nearly the full complement of brands offered at Scott Walker Audio in southern California, Ted Denny’s demonstration was one for the record books.

Aurender, Scott Walker Audio | T.H.E. SHOW 2019

Aurender App

In the largest set of dealer lead exhibits at THE SHOW 2019, Scott Walker Audio and Aurender had a static display of Aurender’s most popular offerings. While Friday’s wrap of the show was taking hold, I decided it would be fun to examine up close the Aurender players on display, and delve deeper into what made the special, and more often the go-to digital source of many exhibitors in the audio show circuit.

Scott Walker Audio and Eight Rooms of Joy | T.H.E. Show 2019

By | July 1st, 2019|Categories: Part-Time Audiofile|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , |

Who is Scott Walker of Scott Walker Audio, and how can he possibly have so many exhibit rooms at one show? On Saturday at T.H.E. Show 2019, I spent the entire day covering just three Southern California dealers because they had such a strong presence–three rooms for Alma Audio, four for Sunny Components and, get this–eight rooms for Scott Walker Audio. That takes fortitude, incredible organizational skills and, as it seems, a lot of staff and partnerships with manufacturers such as Synergistic Research, Magico, Constellation, B&W, McIntosh and VAC.Read the full article

Saturday’s Highlights | T.H.E. Show 2019

Saturday at T.H.E. Show 2019 in Long Beach was a little more of a blur than Friday–more attendees, more energy and more rooms. Much of my day was dominated by two local Southern California dealers, Sunny Components and Scott Walker Audio. I once did two rooms as an exhibitor, and that was the limit of our abilities. I couldn’t imagine the time and energy it takes to prepare the four rooms for Sunny and eight, yes eight rooms for Scott Walker Audio.… Read the full article

LOS ANGELES (PTA) — This year’s T.H.E. SHOW 2019 is bigger, better, and already on track to be the most newsworthy yet. There are over 1,000,000 brands exhibiting here in Long Beach — okay, okay — maybe not a million brands exactly, but 200 brands is definitely twice as many over last year. Which makes T.H.E. SHOW 2019’s event feel every bit like the premier audio show of America’s west coast. Lots of exciting manufacturer debuts are taking place at this year’s show, and we at Part-Time Audiophile are committed to bringing you the most extensive coverage of what’s NEW and out-of-this-world in our little Hi-Fi universe.… Read the full article

RMAF 2018: Synergistic Research Releases Galileo SX

By | November 7th, 2018|Categories: Part-Time Audiofile|Tags: , , , |

As a veteran of the RMAF and AXPONA shows, I have come to expect great sound from Ted Denney’s Synergistic Research room.  Having reviewed his products, I am aware of how they set up an important foundation for stereo playback by lowering noise to infinitesimal levels.  However, this year Ted, Scott Walker and team outdid themselves with a whopper reference system that included Magico M3 speakers powered by reference level Constellation electronics.

The sound was among the most realistic I have heard on the Eva Cassidy cover of What A Wonderful World.  … Read the full article

AXPONA 2018: Lee’s Best of Show

By | June 14th, 2018|Categories: Part-Time Audiofile|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , |

I was really burned out from a long work week at nearby Northwestern University.  I was so looking forward to AXPONA as the medicine to my working man blues.  The only thing stopping me was insane traffic between Evanston and Schaumburg where the new hotel venue was. This was post-apocalyptic Atlanta traffic.  But finally we arrived and it was worth the hassle. AXPONA was really superb this year.  The Renaissance Center staff was friendly and the venue was beautiful.  Very spacious, it took getting used to but the second floor had lots of conversation pits and the food was generally good.

Scott Walker Audio, Magico and Synergistic Research – AXPONA 2018

I’m not sure how many of those people reading this article have set foot near a high-fidelity trade show, but if you have then you’ll understand what I’m talking about when I reference how dark the rooms which exhibitors show in are.

I mean dark. Like, almost pitch black.

If you’ve not been to one of these somewhat strange conventions, then it may sound odd to picture thousands of older, or middle-aged men sitting next to one another singly, in pairs, or huddled in small groups together in almost utter darkness while music is being played specifically for them.… Read the full article

RMAF 2017: Scott Walker Audio and Synergistic Research Bring the Goods

SR1

The last couple of years I’ve been attending many of the domestic shows and finally made my way to the excellent LA Audio Show which was great fun.  But the last few shows, I have been a bit intrigued by a new “business model” of dealers teaming with manufacturers and actually doing consumer business with the inclusion of a room of gear on “static display” next to the “live” demo room next door.  The theory is that with a strong demo, consumer interest is piqued so why not complete the show experience and allow the audience to purchase some of the featured gear to try?… Read the full article
