At CES 2019, which takes place in Las Vegas from January 8 to 11, 2019, Fraunhofer IIS will present its latest developments in audio and media technologies, including a series of CES debuts: the first commercially available MPEG-H-enabled 3D soundbars, Sonamic Loudness for car stereos, the xHE-AAC audio codec natively supported in Android, and upHear Voice Quality Enhancement for improved speech recognition on smart devices. Sonamic TimeScaling Delivers Seamless Switching Between Broadcasts And Web Streams In Car Radios

Imagine a car radio that keeps on playing your favorite local radio station — without interruption — when you drive out of the station’s broadcast range. That’s the promise of Hybrid Radio, and Fraunhofer’s Sonamic TimeScaling technology is critical to its success. A Hybrid Radio switches from broadcast reception to a station’s web stream when the broadcast signal weakens at the fringes of a station’s coverage area. Fraunhofer’s Sonamic TimeScaling algorithm makes the switch seamless and uninterrupted.
