REL T/9i Subwoofer

rel_t9i

Alan Sircom has posted a review of the REL T/9i subwoofer (£899) at Hi-Fi+. His conclusions:

“REL’s T/9i is an excellent subwoofer for the audiophile. It’s capable of making big bass noises, but is also more than capable of freeing up the loudspeakers and liberating them from the dictatorship of the room. While there is no substitute for huge bass traps and other room treatments, a pair of T/9i get you most of the way there without the domestic angst room treatment can cause.

Elekit TU-8500 Tube Preamplifier Kit

elekit_tu8500

Noam Bronstein has posted a review of the Elekit TU-8500 tube preamplifier kit ($550) at Wall of Sound. His conclusions:

“I’ve owned many preamps over the years, both tube and solid-state (as well as passive). For me, the Elekit strikes an impressive balance of performance, usability, and low cost. The key point being, it’s a kit: if you think this sounds like a “$500 preamp”, think again! A unit of this calibre, if assembled and warrantied by a respected audio house, would retail for 2-3 times that much.”

Brent Butterworth has posted a review of the Bowers & Wilkins 804 D3 loudspeakers ($9000/pair) at HomeTheaterReview. His conclusions:

“rom a performance standpoint, I can’t really criticize them. Sure, I can detect a few subtle flaws, but I’ll happily tolerate them for all the many wonderful sonic qualities this speaker exudes. If there is one major downside to this speaker, it’s one my friend Gordon Sauck captured well with nothing more than a facial expression. “These are really nice,” he said after a couple hours of listening.

Unison Research Unico Primo Integrated Amplifier

unisonresearch_unicoprimo

Ken Micallef has posted a review of the Unison Research Unico Primo integrated amplifier ($2400) at Stereophile. His conclusions:

“The Primo wowed me with its ability to ally impact with resolution, and visceral dynamics with graceful detail and musicality. That it failed to resolve the deepest low-end notes with equal gumption in no way detracted from its overall appeal. Rather, the Primo delighted with its cohesive strengths, and so achieved a kind of holistic presence.”

“This combination of C22 preamplifier and MC75 amplifiers was a joy to have in my home. Not only did they sound marvelous but their throw-back look took me back to a time of my youth that was wonderful to remember.
