Disclaimer: This post is part of our Picture Sunday series, in which we take a brief look at upcoming reviews. You can find all previous posts here.

It is not that long ago that we have featured AAW’s first planar magnetic IEM, the Nightingale. Yet, we’re back with another post about one of their products. Another first, kinda. The Canary is AAW’s first monitor that uses Sonion’s electrostatic tweeters. Well, aside from the Pola of course, which is a collaboration product between AAW and Shozy.… Read the full article

Miller & Kreisel 750 Series Redux

By | May 25th, 2019|Categories: AV Hub|

Miller & Kreisel says it has introduced the first true update in 20 years to its 750 Series speakers, the first one of which was introduced in 1999.

‘The new 750 represents a true acoustic upgrade, because it now uses M&K’s own customised Danish designed and produced tweeters,’ said Paul Riachi of Indi Imports, which distributes Miller & Kreisel in Australia. ‘Plus M&K has also taken the innovative high-performance technologies and components from the S150 Series and integrated them into this new Miller & Kreisel 750 Series.’

The new 750 Series uses 28mm-diameter coated soft dome tweeters (older versions used 25mm domes) which are fitted with vented voice coils for higher power-handling.… Read the full article

High-End 2019 show coverage brought to you by Core Power Technologies

Small booth down on the ground floor but with some interesting news coming from a couple of friends. First I had the chance to see a hardcore analog guy, as hardcore as it gets, Richard Mak.

Rick is the driving force that made the hands-down best cartridge set-up tool available, that is Analogmagik for those who missed the memo. I have been using it for my set up and it offers a level of precision that is unheard off, even for bread and vinyl guys like me.

High-End 2019 show coverage brought to you by Core Power Technologies

I know what you’re thinking. “Hey, didn’t you used to be the US importer and distributor of Unison Research and Opera loudspeakers from Italy?” Yes, that’s true, but that doesn’t mean I can’t get excited about their new products, especially when that enthusiasm is tempered with an enormous amount of regret that I still don’t represent these two brands–especially when those new products are something I can really get behind.… Read the full article

High-End 2019 show coverage brought to you by The LSA Group

I’ve wanted to sit down and listen to Crystal Cable speakers for quite some time. This Dutch company has been manufacturing a number of premium two-way monitors, one of my favorite things, that are packed with all sorts of interesting technologies. The Minissimo Diamond-Scala monitors (20,000 euros per pair with stands), which were on display at High End 2019 in Munich, feature a novel and visually stunning form that is based on extensive computer modeling–the goal of this shape is to minimize all cabinet colorations while allowing the new SEAS drivers, including a diamond tweeter, to reach their full potential.… Read the full article

Some OnePlus 7 Pro users are reporting issues with the phone’s touchscreen

By | May 25th, 2019|Categories: TechRadar|

Some OnePlus 7 Pro models are apparently exhibiting hardware problems just days after release, in the form of phantom touchscreen taps that apps seem to respond to but which haven't been made.

As reported by Android Police, the mysterious ghost touches don't seem to correspond to one particular app or one particular scenario – it's almost like they come out of nowhere.

Whether or not you've already got a OnePlus 7 Pro to hand, you can check out the forum posts, Twitter tweets and YouTube clips that describe and demonstrate the issue.… Read the full article

High-End 2019 show coverage brought to you by Core Power Technologies

Brinkmann Audio is another one of those brands that intrigues me to the point where I wonder why I never pulled the trigger on one of their products. Their slim little Integrated amplifier, the one with the glass top, has always sounded fantastic to me, and I love the fact that this German company has continued the superb design of the legendary Breuer tonearm for use with their own wonderful turntables.… Read the full article

By | May 25th, 2019|Categories: Analog planet|

Following a turbulent decade battling personal demons in the 1950s, tenor saxophonist Dexter Gordon had mostly faded from the jazz scene by the end of that decade; after all, he only recorded three sessions (two of which he led) in the second half of it. By 1961, however, he began a successful relationship with Blue Note that commenced that year with Doin’ Allright.
