Web.com discloses major data breach

Web.com has announced that it as well as Register.com and Network Solutions all suffered a data breach in August.

A disclosure notice that was published across all three sites, revealed that on October 16, the company had “determined that a third-party gained unauthorized access to a limited number of our computer systems in late August 2019, and as a result, account information may have been accessed”.

According to Web.com, contact details including user's names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses and which web hosting products they had purchased were all acquired by hackers as a result of the data breach.… Read the full article

The 866 will be released in two versions: an all-analog version ($12,250) and an analog+digital ($14,450) version. 

Features of the all-analog version will include:

  • 200W of maximum output power into an 8-ohm load  
  • Three pairs of full-balanced inputs
  • Customizable display and input indicators with user uploadable photos for each input
  • A new protection scheme that allows for greater current output and peak power delivery
  • Factory direct software updates by Ethernet or USB memory device
  • All input selections, setup, and control via a 0” (18 cm) full-color touch screen or a dedicated  

Boulder app for Apple and Android mobile devices 

Features of the analog+digital version will include:

  • Three pairs of balanced analog inputs as well as Toslink, S/PDIF, Ethernet, USB, and AirPlay digital input capability
  • 200W of maximum output power into an 8-ohm load  
  • Customizable display and input indicators with user uploadable photos for each input
  • New protection scheme allows for greater current output during peak power delivery
  • Factory direct software updates by Ethernet or USB memory device
  • All input selections, setup, and control via a 0” (18 cm) full-color touch screen or a dedicated Boulder app for Apple and Android mobile devices 
  • Roon endpoint integration  
  • Apple AirPlay wireless streaming capability from Apple mobile devices (iPhone, iPad) 
  • Subscription music services access through Roon or their own native app via AirPlay
  • Built-in server software for connection to media storage devices over USB or Ethernet
  • UPnP/DLNA wired and wireless streaming over Ethernet

Schools are facing more cyberattacks than ever before

Cyberattacks against schools have increased dramatically and this year has already seen almost as many incidents as the previous two years combined, according to Barracuda which analyzed data compiled by the K-12 Cybersecurity Resource Center (k-12 CRC) which has been tracking reported attacks against schools since 2016.

So far in 2019, there have been 301 attacks against schools compared to 124 in 2018 and 218 in 2017. However, these figures only account for reported cases and it is highly likely that additional cases either went unreported or even undetected as stealthy malware is used to steal information, participate in botnets or mine cryptocurrency.… Read the full article
