Bose 700 NC Headphones

By | November 11th, 2019|Categories: AV Hub|

Bose claims that its new 700 series wireless noise cancelling headphones represent the biggest leap forward in NC headphones since the iconic QuietComfort, which were likely the world’s most popular noise-cancelling headphones for in-flight use. [Click image to enlarge]

The new Bose 700s have a revolutionary new voice interface that redefines mobile communication the way Bose noise cancellation redefined mobile audio,’ says Brian Maguire of Bose. ‘New technology inside the 700s isolates a user’s voice from unwanted sound, allowing Bose 700 owners to do something that’s never previously been possible: Surrounded by noise from competing conversations, rush-hour traffic  and loud subway platforms, they can share their quiet—and not the noise around them—for crystal-clear calls to home and work, and gain unprecedented accuracy from virtual personal assistants such as Siri, Alexa and Google Assistant.Read the full article

AMD may pack GPU units into Ryzen 9 to keep Intel on edge

By | November 11th, 2019|Categories: TechRadar|

AMD's latest CPUs built on the Zen 2 architecture are ticking a lot of the right boxes, and now the company appears prepared to give its higher-end models a boost.

A number of Ryzen 9 APUs (CPUs paired with GPU cores on the same chip) appear in a leak from @Komachi_Ensaka on Twitter, shared by Notebookcheck. This leak shows a listing of products from AMD, and next to each processor name, there's a designation that appears to indicate graphics cores.

In the case of four Ryzen 9 processors, there appear to be 12 graphical compute units.… Read the full article

Qobuz high resolution music streaming service updated pricing. How much does Qobuz cost?

The big news coming out of the NY Audio show wasn’t a new shiny loudspeaker, but rather a somewhat radical move by the high fidelity music streaming service Qobuz. Now reduced to only a single option, the monthly fee for high resolution streaming is down to $15 – undercutting their largest rival Tidal by nearly 25%.

The company will retain its Sublime+ option as well, a plan that includes discounts for downloads from the Qobuz storefront along with the full streaming capabilities of the Studio Premier tier.… Read the full article

Capital Audio Fest 2019 – photos of our giant room

By | November 11th, 2019|Categories: Audio Federation|Tags: , , , |

Our room was quite large, and we filled it with music that was musical, well-controlled [except for a little bass overhang around 100 hz and a room resonance freq around 500? hz], smooth, harmonically rich and etc. etc.

It invited comparisons with a ‘live’ performance [not talking here about the overly simplistic demos that are primarily percussion and electric guitar we see out there sometimes]. Wasn’t quite THAT good, but, for me, this is what high-end audio is all about.

Convincingly live music in my room at a push of a button by any artist from any decade. Read the full article

The 2017 MacBook Air is at its lowest price we’ve seen before Black Friday

By | November 11th, 2019|Categories: TechRadar|

For those dying for one of Apple's MacBook Air laptops but lacking the four figures of disposable cash required for the latest model, Walmart is running an excellent deal as part of its early Walmart Black Friday sale.

The retailer is selling the 2017 model of the original MacBook Air design at its entry-level spec for far less than it would cost you to get the absolute latest model – even at an entry-level configuration. (What can we say? It's an expensive laptop.)

Of course, this deal isn't going to get you the latest and greatest that Apple's thin and light laptop line has to offer.… Read the full article

Amazon Echo vulnerable to old security flaws

By | November 11th, 2019|Categories: TechRadar|

Security experts have warned that Amazon Echo devices could still be susceptible to a range of flaws.

A team known as Flouroacetate were able to hack into an Amazon Echo device due to shortcomings in the security software used to protect the device.

Hackers exploiting this "patch gap" would be able to overload an affected device to hijack the Echo, and possible even then gain access to a victim's home network.

Full control

The findings were enough for the Fluoroacetate team to win the Pwn2Own hacking contest, which is held every year to highlight security flaws in modern-day devices.… Read the full article
