Ayon Audio and USA Tube Audio brought to Rocky Mountain Audio Fest one of the more popular rooms at the show. Not only for bringing great sound, and a stunning product, but for consistently playing great pop and r&b music. If you want a crowd, content matters. That is a rule of media and broadcasting. Munich High End 2018: VIMBERG & TIDAL

New at Munich is VIMBERG, springing from the minds, hands and creative work of Jörn Janczak of TIDAL. My understanding is that this line of loudspeakers will very much have “DNA” derived from the much more expensive TIDAL brand. Think Toyota vs Lexus, if Lexus was Rolls Royce (if that makes sense).

The new line is very much intended to be a more affordable entry to Janczak’s work (where ‘affordable’ is admittedly highly relative, of course).

AXPONA 2018: VPI Fatboy dances with Gershman and VAC

A very Fatboy.

Originally spotted in Munich at the High End Show, we’ve been anxiously waiting to hear the VPI Fatboy tonearm. VPI dropped the Fatboy details before AXPONA in a press release, so I was jazzed to find Mat Weisfeld outside the Gershman Acoustics Room.

I asked Mat which VPI room I should listen to, and the he declared “This one of course!” He wasn’t kidding. As I walked inside room 710, I was greeted by a VPI Titan turntable loaded with the production 12-inch VPI Fatboy gimbal tonearm.… Read the full article
