In this review we take a close look at the newest and 3rd tube amp of the Auris collection.

Disclaimer: Auris Audio is not related to Headfonia in any way. The Nirvana was sent to me to be featured on Headfonia.com and the local dealer uses our sample to feature at shows.

Auris Audio

Only in March of this year we reviewed Auris Audio’s top of the line tube amp, the Headonia, here at Headfonia. Last year we covered their HA2-SE tube amp which won the “Best of 2017” award and so our loyal readers will probably already know all about Auris Audio.… Read the full article

The Fiio µBTR is one of Fiio’s latest units. Time to lake a closer look at the latest Fiio BT device, the µBTR!

FiiO’s FB1 is n”t that good. It is a perfect reminder than even the highest-aiming of brand catalogs is lined with failures.… Read the full article

Astell & Kern

The South-Korean Astell & Kern is an iRiver owned company and it no longer needs an introduction as they are well known already in the personal audio world because of their series of high end portable players.

I admit I’ve been a big fan of their Digital Audio Players for years already now and an as a result we have reviewed quite a few of them:

Review: iFi Audio xDSD – iPocket

By | June 7th, 2018|Categories: Headfonia|Tags: , , , , , , , , , |

Disclaimer: The iFi xDSD is provided by iFi Audio for us to review. It goes for 400$. Much thanks to iFi for their cooperation.

INTRO

A lot of people don’t like the idea of a dedicated DAP while they travel or commute. An additional, standalone device apart from their smartphones is not useful for them.  They want to organize everything from their smartphones, but have an audiophile grade sound quality at the same time. Who can blame them? Smartphones are “smart”, fast and neat.… Read the full article

AXPONA 2018: Benchmark stays smooth with Martin Logan

By | May 21st, 2018|Categories: Part-Time Audiofile|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , |

Benchmark-Featured

Audiophiles like smoothness. Audiophiles don’t like rough edges, bumps or dips in frequency response, falloff in off-axis listening, hot treble, or exaggerated bass. Linear playback without attention being drawn to any particular part of the bandwidth is the hallmark of well-designed components, and a well-curated sound system, one that works well together as far as I am concerned.

Benchmark-1

The… well, errr… Benchmark.

That’s what Benchmark Media had put together in Chicago for AXPONA this year in room 670 at the Renaissance Schaumburg Hotel: a smooth, curated system.… Read the full article
