DRM’s Progress in India

India is currently rolling out the largest digital radio deployment worldwide, as the public service broadcaster All India Radio (AIR) is upgrading the country’s terrestrial broadcast infrastructure for the future. The broadcast standard of choice for this project is Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM), the universal, open digital broadcasting standard for all coverage needs. Digital Radio News from IBC

At the 2017 IBC show in Amsterdam, two new products including Fraunhofer technologies for digital radio were introduced: the first Software Defined Radio (SDR) digital receiver for consumers, and a new DAB monitoring receiver for transmitter, content and remote-coverage monitoring. Titus II multi standard digital radio receiver Titus SDR, PantronX, Jasmin-Infotech, TWR, and the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS have teamed up to create Titus II, the world’s first consumer Software Defined Radio (SDR) digital receiver (pictured above). News from the Digital Radio World – Part 2

Last week we reported about current developments in digital radio in Europe. In today’s article, we will look at the expansion of digital radio in other continents, with focus on India. At the end of January, India launched the second phase of the largest digital radio rollout worldwide with the broadcast standard of choice being Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM). DRM offers the same services and functions as DAB+, but as opposed to DAB+, it is not a multiplex with many programs in a broadband emitting signal, but rather the direct digital successor of analogue AM and FM broadcast, with one emitting signal per broadcaster.… Read the full article

DRM General Assembly and first DRM European Workshop at Fraunhofer IIS

Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) is the open, efficient, green digital broadcasting standard available for all frequencies and for all coverage needs: international, national, regional and local. From April 5 to 7, 2016 the first DRM European Workshop in conjunction with the DRM General Assembly was held at the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuit IIS in Erlangen.
