KEF R Series

Troy Audio was presenting at the Rocky Mountain Audio Fest and just like last year, they had great success in keeping their exhibit room as one of the most visited, and well regarded.

ES000645

Troy Audio had two systems: The first was made up of Triode Corporation tube electronics, a preamplifier and power amplifier using 300B tubes at just 8 watts. The digital source was an Esoteric CD transport, while the DAC was the small giant DAC212SE from DiDIT High End.

CAF 2018: The Audio Company, Von Schweikert, VAC, Esoteric and The Big Why

By | November 4th, 2018|Categories: Part-Time Audiofile|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , |

Each time I’ve visited the Von Schweikert rooms at hi-fi shows over the last few years, Damon Von Schweikert and Leif Swanson have upped the ante in terms of presentation, sound and most importantly, the WOW Factor. First of all, I’m not damning them with faint praise, as if back in the day their exhibit rooms were only so-so and they’ve gotten much better. No, we’re talking about a duo who wins award after award, best-in-shows, all the marbles. The fact that they keep outdoing themselves is perhaps troublesome for their competitors, but outstanding for the industry.… Read the full article

There are over 1,000,000 brands exhibiting here at Capital Audiofest … okay, okay, — I don’t know how many brands exactly, but it does seem like a lot this year. Which makes 2018’s event feel every bit like the “premier show of North America’s eastern coast”, that we often claim it to be. Fear not, as the rag-tag band of misfits from Part-Time Audiophile are here to be your surrogate audio show guide.

Here are some surefire rooms to get you started off on the right foot.Read the full article

The Audio Company: VAC, Von Schweikert & Esoteric – RMAF 2018

When The Audio Company of Marietta, Georgia decides to demonstrate what they do, they pull out all of the stops, and bring their A-game. Becoming darlings of the audio show circuit for consistently producings best-in-show sound, they also have a knack for creating systems that pluck the “audio eye-candy” strings that generates buzz from press, exhibitors, and show attendees.

The Audio Company was showing a slew of new products for 2018. Starting with the VAC Statement 450i iQ Integrated Amplifier ($150,000 USD); an ultimate performance, cost-no-object, tube integrated amplifier.Read the full article

AXPONA 2018: After hours with The Audio Company

The Von Schweikert ULTRA 11 tour has made its way around to Axpona. Along with familiar faces in both Esoteric and VAC.

Exhibitors at audio shows are known for hosting after-hours listening parties, in part to relax and mingle with attendees in a less pressured environment, along with an extra chance to flaunt their wares.

For me this is a welcomed encore performance put on by The Audio Company at 2017’s Capital Audiofest (read about it HERE). It’s a brilliant move to have a system like this making its way around the globe, as it truly is a one of kind experience.… Read the full article

AXPONA 2018 – Friday Night Lights, and Saturday delights

AXPONA-1-Friday-Feature

Into the light of Saturday.

Lions, tigers, and bears – Oh my.

Substitute the first three nouns in that sentence for women, teens, and children, and you’d get my drift about what I noticed over the weekend in Illinois. This was pretty much the first time I’d seen any of those demographics in any amount of numbers at an audio show in North America. And no, it wasn’t just because there was a large dance competition being held simultaneously in part of the host venue, these were women, teens, and kids clutching AXPONA merchandise, and making the rounds between the more than 150 show rooms.… Read the full article

Esoteric’s F-07 Integrated Amplifier. Built like a battleship

The Esoteric name, among those who know, stands for a premium range of audio components where the designers are encouraged to simply adopt a no holds barred approach to achieve the best sound possible in every component they make.

An example is their highly regarded K-01X SACD/CD player that first appeared sometime in 2016. The F-Series integrated amplifiers soon followed and among one of the most sought after is the flagship model F-07 integrated amplifier.… Read the full article

Capital Audiofest 2017: The Audio Company, VAC, Von Schweikert, Esoteric bring their A-Game

By | November 7th, 2017|Categories: Part-Time Audiofile|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , |

This was probably the only room at Capital Audiofest that could have charged a “special exhibit” admission price during the show. The Audio Company brought to CAF what was arguably a room configured with a system many audiophiles might never experience in their real lives, either specifically or in terms of outright cost. So making it to an audio show near you to see rooms like this should be on your bucket list. Likely if you know someone who attended Capital Audio Fest this year, you’re likely already seeing system pictures on social media.… Read the full article

RMAF 2017: Esoteric gets lush sound from new gear

By | November 3rd, 2017|Categories: Part-Time Audiofile|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , |

FullSizeRender-818-1

Veteran manufacturer Esoteric had not one, but two, major product introductions at the Rocky Mountain Audio Fest. Reflecting general trends in the industry, one new piece of gear is aimed at vinyl fans, while the other is for those embracing digital-file playback.

The Esoteric E-2 phono preamplifier ($9,500 USD) improves on the E-1, which has been on the market for eight years, adding balanced operation and enhanced circuitry for MC cartridges. The unit has one XLR input and output, as well as one RCA in and out.… Read the full article
